How long is a Pre-Apprenticeship?
Pre-Apprenticeships can last between six weeks to to a year, but they usually take a few months. A Pre-Apprenticeship can be extended if it suits both the young person and the employer.
What happens after my Pre-Apprenticeship?
What happens when you reach the end of your Pre-Apprenticeship depends on whether your employer has a job available.
If a job is available, you might be invited to apply for the position or your employer might wish to start you on an Apprenticeship. If nothing is available, you’ll have an exit interview with written feedback that will be extremely valuable when it comes to finding and securing the ideal Apprenticeship.
What training do you receive on a Pre-Apprenticeship?
Your Pre-Apprenticeship will provide you with: training to prepare you for work, including CV writing and what to expect in the workplace; support to improve your English, maths and digital skills; anda high-quality work placement of at least 70 hours.
Some of your Pre-Apprenticeship will involve attending training or lectures at the College depending on the level of support you need. The College will tailor the Pre-Apprenticeship to suit you and give you the best chance of finding your dream job or Apprenticeship.
Will I get paid?
You will not be paid during your Pre-Apprenticeship, but employers may be able to support you with expenses for things like travel to and from your work placement and meals.
Pre-Apprenticeships will not affect benefit claims.
