A group of students from the Skills Development department at City College Plymouth have recently taken part in a rewarding community project in collaboration with Stoke Damerel Church.

Teamwork makes the dream work: Reece, Cory and Dan.

The project was organised with Rhona Prichard and Marilyn Goldsbrough, of Stoke Damerel Church, and Mary Ballantine, Work Placement Coordinator, City College Plymouth. The students attended each week and worked hard to clear ivy from the walls, sweep the lanes, pick up litter and collect twigs and branches for the bonfire.

Before the project began, they planned the activities and learned about the correct personal protective equipment for the activities.

Skylar enjoyed being out in the fresh air.

Local Councillors Jemima Laing and Sally Cresswell came to see the students’ work and kindly donated £400 towards a water butt and gardening items which the students will use.

The students really enjoyed themselves and look forward to continuing in September.
