The three teams – Arty Smarty’s, Buzzy Bunch and Change of Art – were presented with their prizes at the annual awards ceremony held at the Duke of Cornwall Hotel.

As part of the ceremony, students from each group delivered a presentation on their project to an audience of dignitaries, including councillors, members of the Young Enterprise Board, representatives from Plymouth University and the students’ own friends and families.

Sue Evans, Skills Development Lecturer at the College, said: “I am so proud of the students for what they have achieved, and so are their parents and carers. To present in front of an audience like that can be quite daunting, but they really excelled themselves and the audience gave them a very warm reception. This award not only brings prestige to the College but was a great boost of confidence for our students.”

The College’s skills development courses offer young people with moderate to severe learning difficulties and disabilities the chance to learn within a supported environment, where they are taught independent living and preparations for adult life.
