We love to hear how our former students are getting on. From TV stars to managing directors, these alumni are a pretty inspiring lot, as we think you’ll agree!
We’ve teamed up with national education charity Future First to build an alumni network, so if you’re a former student of City College Plymouth, click here to be part of it. As an alumni member there are plenty of ways to stay connected to the College and your experiences since leaving could help to motivate and inspire others to feel more confident in making decisions about their own futures.
Currently an Assistant at a Barnardo’s Children Centre, Bethany gained a Public Services Foundation Degree at the College and then progressed to university.
“I would say to anyone to give City College and a Foundation Degree a try! University seemed so big and I felt more prepared going there after studying at the College.”
Star of BBC1’s The Apprentice, Charleine is now a multi-award winning stylist and owner of Charleine Wain Hair, Beauty and Photography in Plymouth. She credits the College for helping her retrain and start a new career after leaving the Royal Navy.
“There’s no way I could have done it without the College. It gave me a new focus on life, giving me confidence and helping me set goals to succeed.”
While studying at City College, Jon Morcom became Trainee Manager at the Duke of Cornwall Hotel, a hotel that he now jointly owns!
“I’m proud that I was a student at the College and I’m proud of what I’ve achieved. To give something back to the College is essential for me and I’m happy to continue to do this by providing opportunities for current students.”
Rachel studied business, administration and finance at the College and is a Logistics Analyst at Jaguar Land Rover.
“The College was the starting point that has opened so many more doors for me. Without the support from the College my further education and career path could have been very different.”
David Rowe is the Managing Director of award-winning manufacturing company, Applied Automation, based in Plymouth. He puts his success down to his engineering training with City College.
“I can honestly say that during my 45 year career in engineering, I have used everything I learnt, and looking back I’m very grateful to the College for my training.”
