Our £13m Regional Centre of Excellence for STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) opened in Autumn 2017 and boasts a range of fantastic facilities, as well plenty of areas for students to relax and socialise. Our aim is to be the leading provider of innovative and technical education in the South West. The Centre will help achieve this, providing productivity, growth, employment and investment.
From creating innovative new cooking methods and engineering the perfect stage set-up to improving athletic performance and developing new beauty treatments, STEM subjects influence almost every job you can think of.
The Centre was developed with the input of over 200 employers and will give City College students the opportunity to work together across traditional subject boundaries, getting you the transferable skills which will give you the edge in a competitive job market.
The Centre features fully furnished science laboratories, as well as multiple computer workshops where students will learn the intricacies of hardware and software programming. The technical side of media can be explored in the new digital TV studio – complete with infinity curve wall – four editing suites, an animation studio and a live recording studio.
In addition to maths teaching spaces, there are also analytical laboratories and dedicated spaces for electronics testing. Students can get to grips with 3D printing technology in the rapid prototyping room and the sports science laboratory enables our expert lecturing team to train future sporting heroes using the latest equipment for sport performance enhancement and analysis.
