City College Plymouth is looking for talent in basketball, football or rugby. Our three sports academies want to hear from aspiring young players to join our study and coaching programmes.
Run in partnership with local professional sports clubs, such as Plymouth Argyle, the academies combine expert coaching and fitness conditioning with any full-time course; players can develop their skills in their chosen sport, while studying at the College to gain academic and vocational qualifications.
As well as working with coaches and players from the professional teams, our budding sports stars will get an insight into working in the world of sport through placements and work experience and competing in competitive matches. They will also benefit from sessions with the College’s expert strength and conditioning team and have the opportunity of taking part in coaching and officiating courses.
Kieran Dyer, 17, is Captain of the College’s Football Performance Academy … “I am really enjoying my time at the College, where I am studying a Level 3 BTEC in Sport as well as playing football. We receive quality coaching three times a week and also a strength and conditioning session, which has really benefited me as a player. The league matches are against high-quality academy sides in the south of England. I have also had the opportunity to attend a ‘showcase match’ in Edinburgh where I have been shortlisted to gain a scholarship in America. This is just one of the opportunities available to players at the College.”
And if rugby or basketball are your game, you’ll still be able to benefit from top-level teaching, as well as continuing your education.
So what are you waiting for? Call 01752 305300 to find out how you can be part of it at City College.
Who knows where it could take you?!
