Student Matt Dixon was crowned the men’s platform champion at the 2020 British Diving Championships this weekend.

Matt, who is 19 and studying for a Foundation Degree in Strength, Conditioning and Sports Coaching, took the title right here in Plymouth on Sunday, with the Life Centre hosting the event.

Matt, who also won the title in 2018, saw off competition from 2019’s winner Noah Williams, and Olympic hopeful Matty Lee, among others. His strong and consistent performance, which included scoring 92.5 for a forward four-and-a-half somersaults, saw Matt set a new personal best with a huge overall score of 503.85.

Programme Leader Ian Davis said: “Matt has done extremely well to perform at such a high level and become National Champion whilst juggling training and studying here at the College.  Myself and his peer group of strength and conditioning students are all very proud of him and look forward to congratulating him in person this week.”
