Selected from over 360 entries, City College Plymouth music student Hannah Lou Reid has been invited to perform at the Origins Creative Arts Festival in London.

Tony Toller, lecturer in music at the College, nominated Hannah, 18, for her album ‘Advice’, which explores innovative vocal, composing and production techniques, and this inspired entry caught the attention of the festival curators.

Open to the public and expected to attract thousands of visitors over three days, the festival showcases the country’s most talented young people who are studying pre-degree creative arts subjects at school or college.

Hannah said: “I am so grateful to have been picked for this amazing opportunity. The Origins Creative Arts Festival is an amazing thing to be part of and I am so happy that my hard work and determination has paid off. Writing my album has been the hardest and happiest experience I have had in a long time, and I am proud that I get to share it with people.”

Tony added: “I nominated Hannah for the Origins event due to the very high standard and consistency of the material on her recent album, ‘Advice’, which was created as part of her final major project on the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Music Performance and Production. She has incorporated some innovative and creative composing and production techniques that make the product really stand out, whilst retaining a commercially viable feel throughout. Her vocal and harmony work is particularly awesome.”

The Origins festival is organised by UAL Awarding Body and provides art lovers, critics and industry professionals with the opportunity to discover original 14-18 year old creative talent from across the UK.
