Students Celebrated at College Media Awards

The outstanding achievements of City College Plymouth media students were recently recognised at a special evening awards ceremony held at the Duke of Cornwall Hotel. The annual Media Awards are the College’s way of celebrating student excellence, with various award categories being sponsored by local media companies.

2019 Media Award winners:

  • Best Documentary (sponsored by Twofour) – Studio Barracuda (Ash Foweraker, Tegan Kelly, Fleur Dyer and Jack Henderson), “Asia Powerboat Association” documentary
  • Best Short Moving Image (sponsored by Denhams) – Abbie Thomas, Reece Charlton and Anna Cieslik-Gee, “Mans Not Hot” music video
  • Best Radio Production (sponsored by Radio Plymouth) – Kitty Ferguson, the music of Disney films
  • Craft Skills: Camera – Esteban Woods Ferrer, “Wake Up”
  • Craft Skills: Sound – Aidan Pearce, “Voice of Solitude” and “No Idea”
  • Craft Skills: Editing – Reece Charlton, “Mans Not Hot” music video
  • Craft Skills: Graphic Design – Fleur Dyer, logo and brand identity
  • Craft Skills: Writing (sponsored by Parrish Media) – Jack Henderson
  • Special Recognition – Jack Oatway and Katy Stuckey
  • One20 Media Award – Ryan Lee
  • Work Experience – Celyn Parry
  • Best Level 2 – Ryan Wakeman
  • Best Level 3 First Year – Sophie Ferguson
  • Best Level 3 Second Year – Max Darke
  • Best HE Student – Mickey Rogers
  • Overall Student of the Year (sponsored by Bright Solicitors) – Tony Murphy-Jones

Both Neil Edwards from Twofour and Arezoo Farahzad from Denhams said: “We were very impressed with the high standard of work and cannot wait to see the quality of work the students do on the College’s new degree programmes!”

Vicki Pinder, Course Coordinator / Programme Lead, Creative Media Production at the College, said: “We are so proud of all the amazing work our students have completed over the last academic year and congratulate those who came away with prizes at our awards ceremony!”
