Henry Pascoe-Smith

After completing his GCSEs, Henry Pascoe-Smith decided to study a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Musicat City College Plymouth. His great passion is playing the drums, which he has been playing ever since he can remember. He also plays the guitar which he started to learn aged eight.

He said: “I studied music at school and realised that this was the route that I wanted to take. City College offered a more realistic hands-on approach to learning and, since music is what I love doing, their course really appealed to me. I did look around at other courses, but this was the one that I was most suited to because it focused more on performing rather than production.

“The tutors are all industry professionals and are able to share their real-life experiences with us which gives us an insight into the real world of music. They are brilliant and it was a huge bonus for me.”

Henry would like to eventually end up with a job in the music industry.

He concluded: “You ask any musician where they would love to end up and they will say ‘I wanna be famous!’ For me, realistically, I would like to be able to sustain my life doing something that I love, as opposed to doing a job that I don’t like just for the money.”

Henry is now on his way to achieving this dream, finishing his studies this year and has been accepted into the Brighton Institute of Modern Music. He said: “I’m moving to Brighton to study a degree in Professional Musicianship, which will be an awesome experience for me. I can’t wait to get started. My City College course has given me the best possible start, so I would recommend this course to anyone interested in music. Come on over to City College Plymouth!”
