“I was a student here back in 1986 when I studied for my A levels and went on to complete a degree in Creative Arts at Manchester Metropolitan University.

“After graduating, I worked first in Plymouth as a Graphic Designer for a holiday company, in the marketing department of Plymouth Theatre Royal and at Radio Devon before moving to London. Here, I worked for a variety of television companies on programmes such as Planet 24’s The Big Breakfast and Popstars at LWT before moving to Endemol to work on Big Brother.

“After travelling the world for a year, I then moved back to the South West and worked at Two Four Productions before going back to University to get my PGCE teacher training qualification and gaining my role here at the College.

“Teaching media means I am introducing young people to a subject I love. I really enjoy getting to know the students and seeing their passion grow. Helping them progress and learn new skills is the most rewarding part of the job. It’s great when the students realise their full potential and become incredibly ambitious. I get the pleasure of introducing them to the vast array of careers they could all hope to go into and help them find their dream job. This is made easy thanks to the College’s extensive connections to the local business community. Students get the opportunity to learn about the career options within the region and to work with local companies and clients to see how professionals work and the skills required to work in industry.”
