“After graduating with a 2:1 in Film Production from the University for the Creative Arts, I secured a job at Twofour Productions as a production coordinator. I managed to progress into a production management role during my time there and got to work on a variety of programmes including The Hotel Inspector, Dirty Cows, Ty’s Great British Adventure, Gutted and Are you smarter than a 10-year old amongst others.
“I then moved to Ricochet (Shed Media Group) in Brighton, where I worked on the Blood, Sweat and … series organising shoots in East Asia and Africa. I also worked on the Stacey Dooley Investigates series as production coordinator.
“Wanting to progress my career further, I moved to Bristol and worked at the BBC on Flog it! where I organised multiple filming dates at a variety of locations including Warwick Castle, Lissanoure Castle in County Antrim, Herne Bay and Oxford.
“After being in the field for quite some time I decided I wanted to go into teaching, so applied to do my PGCE at the University of Plymouth. I gained my training at the College and was keen to progress into a teaching role within the media department. Not long after I graduated, a position became available and I jumped at the opportunity.
“Supporting students and enabling them to succeed is highly rewarding especially when they themselves don’t believe they can do it. I am always so proud to hear about their achievements and love getting to see all their hard work pay off in their final projects. Getting to witness the students develop their knowledge and become young professionals is gratifying and they always teach me a thing or two about the ever-changing world of media.
“I couldn’t be more thrilled to be a subject leader for media. I work within a great team of creative individuals and the College is a great platform to gain contacts to improve the media course as well as increase my own subject knowledge. I am delighted to have been involved with multiple partnership projects, which opens up opportunities not just for me but also the students and staff. City College is a great place to work.”
