With outstanding success and growth, Bovis are now looking to recruit another apprentice Carpenter to join their highly skilled team.

This apprenticeship scheme aims to employ local talent, offering opportunities for enthusiastic people to learn new skills on the job, whilst gaining a nationally recognised qualification and getting paid at the same time.
As a carpentry apprentice you will learn all aspects of carpentry and joinery as well as building and construction work. You will be expected to learn how to make stud walls, fit doors and make door frames along with many other woodwork duties on the new build site. You will be expected to be willing to learn and take direction well. You may also pick up other aspects of the building and construction trade to enhance and develop your knowledge.
As part of the Bovis Homes Group PLC Apprenticeship Programme you will work towards the Level 2 Site Carpentry apprenticeship standard over a 2 year period. You will also need to work towards functional skills in English and maths if relevant GCSE grades are not already obtained.
Your apprenticeship journey will be supported by experienced trades people and construction professionals. A dedicated mentor will work closely with you, providing regular feedback on your progress.

This apprenticeship will commence in September 2019 and will involve one day per week College attendance at City College Plymouth.

On completion of your level 2 apprenticeship there will be opportunity for progression onto the level 3.

Following your application a member of the Business Engagement Team at the College will be in touch to process your application. If you do not have GCSE/equivalent A-C grades then you will need to complete a short assessment at the College to identify your current working level, followed by a practical assessment on a following day.
The practical assessment will be held at City College Plymouth with the carpentry team. You are not expected to have any prior construction skills or knowledge to pass the assessment.
