Duties:

Robert P Barry Ltd are offering an amazing opportunity for 2 Apprentice Carpenters to join us as they embark on their Level 2 course. You will be completing commercial work in the education, health and retail sectors. This vacancy is being managed by City College Plymouth who will deal with your initial application.

An apprenticeship is an ideal way to earn whilst you learn key skills in the world of construction. With so many great projects in Plymouth’s construction pipeline over the next decade, there has been no better time to become part of such a growing industry. You may recognise some of Robert P Barry Ltd’s previous projects including sites such as the Plymouth History Centre and Plymouth Life Centre.

Some of the work you will undertake includes but is not limited to:

  • Doors
  • Roof Work
  • Cill Boards
  • Skirting
  • Boxing
  • Ironmongery
  • Flooring
  • Cladding
  • Internal Timber Partitions

Training:

All training to be provided by City College Plymouth in collaboration with the company themselves throughout the duration of the apprenticeship. Your apprenticeship may consist of the following components; NVQ Diploma, Technical Cert, Functional Skills Maths and English, Employee Rights and Responsibilities, and Personal Learning and Thinking Skills. All components will be agreed upon before the start of the apprenticeship. As an apprentice you will work towards the Level 2 Site Carpentry Apprenticeship standard over a 2 year period.

This apprenticeship will commence in September 2019 and will involve one day per week College attendance at City College Plymouth.
