We are recruiting an apprentice to work in a progressive role with increasing responsibilities. The role involves receiving goods into the warehouse, using the computer system to allocate stock to orders and maintain stock levels. Picking, packing and dispatching goods from the warehouse. With additional complementary computer-based office tasks.
This vacancy would suit a candidate who has an interest in industrial engineering. The vacancy offers the opportunity to develop a wide range of skills including; communication and interpersonal skills, written and computer skills, time management and prioritisation skills.
Additionally, the candidate can expect to familiarise themselves with the extensive with the extensive product range and learn to read technical data to identify the components. Therefore, it is essential the candidate has an aptitude for numbers as often our work includes precision measuring and converting metric to imperial dimensions.
Essential elements of the warehousing tasks include stock management, receipt and allocation of stock to the correct location, noting any shortages or incorrect stock values. The candidate must maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment to ensure health and safety is not compromised. As the candidate becomes more familiar with both the warehousing and products, their role and responsibilities will develop.
The candidate can also expect to carry out office-based tasks, including receiving stock items onto the software system, creating customer despatch notes and emailing or telephoning suppliers for quotations and order status. Additionally, general paper-based activities will be such as filing and safe disposal of confidential waste.
Receiving stock into the warehouse.
Allocating stock to customer orders or to warehouse location.
Maintaining an organised working environment.
Using the software system.
Making and receiving telephone calls.
Filing and other paper-based tasks.

All training to be provided by City College Plymouth in collaboration with the company themselves throughout the duration of the apprenticeship.

Core GCSE’s in Maths, English and Science at C/4 and above.
