Key Responsibilities:


Technical Support for Students and Staff

  • To provide first line support and advice in relation to software, hardware, telephone, audio-visual and photocopiers
  • To assist with the setting up, repair and maintenance of computers and all computer linked equipment
  • To promote safe and good use of technology throughout the school


  • To assist in maintaining the school’s asset register and inventory
  • To help ensure there are appropriate stock levels of computer accessories and consumables and place orders when necessary
  • Support with the production and maintenance of IT reports, statistics and checklists

Software and Development

  • To install and configure software applications
  • Keep up to date with new and emerging technologies
  • Contribute in the development of new IT procedures/products within the school

Safety and Security

  • To ensure excellent standards of safety and security in relation to technical equipment
  • To proactively implement the school’s policies and procedures in particular the ICT Acceptable Use Policy
  • To be aware of and adhere to the policies of Plymouth College and national legislation including Safe Guarding and Child Protection, Health and Safety, Equal Opportunities, Staff Code of Conduct and Data Protection

Personal Development

  • To work towards and successfully complete the ICT, Software and Web Development Apprenticeship within the allocated 15-month period
  • To be responsible for self-development, identifying and undertaking training as appropriate





All training to be provided by City College Plymouth in collaboration with the company themselves throughout the duration of the apprenticeship. Your apprenticeship may consist of the following components; NVQ Diploma, Technical Cert, Functional Skills Maths and English, Employee Rights and Responsibilities, and Personal Learning and Thinking Skills. All components will be agreed upon before the start of the apprenticeship.
