To support our activity, we are looking for a Manufacturing Engineering Apprentice who will work with the production teams as well as Manufacturing Engineering to assist in developing and supporting efficient and reliable manufacturing solutions.  You will need to achieve the highest standards of quality, whilst eliminating waste and increasing productivity.  Ours is a busy and fast paced environment and we will look to you to think on your feet, work collaboratively and have confidence in your decisions.  Key responsibilities will include:

  • MTM & Time study work
  • Cost estimating
  • Problem solving
  • Process optimisation
  • Ergonomics
  • Design new production processes
  • Utilisation of Kaizen and Lean tools
  • Maintain routings in MRP system
  • Project management

We are looking for enthusiastic and hardworking individuals to join our team as a Manufacturing Engineering Apprentice Level 4, you will begin to contribute to Schneider Electrics’ success and simultaneously gain experience of our business.  At the end of your apprenticeship you will have achieved a recognised qualification and gained knowledge through your continued academic studies.

Alongside employment with Schneider Electric, you will be enrolled onto the Level 4 Engineering Manufacturing Technician apprenticeship. This apprenticeship is 3-3.5 years long and includes one day per week at City College Plymouth to study the HNC, embedded within the apprenticeship.

Desired qualifications

  • Ideally 1-year college full-time attained
  • 2 A levels Grade C and above or equivalent i.e. Level 3 BTEC
  • Be self-motivated, resourceful, flexible and customer focused
  • Ability to communicate well in English, both written and spoken

You must be 18 to apply for this role, due to the entry requirements for the higher-level apprenticeship.


For the successful candidate, future employment may be available depending on your time throughout your apprenticeship.
