We are looking for someone who wants to make a career in hospitality to join our team and help with all front of house duties including taking orders, serving food and dealing with customers. We would hope that the successful candidate would, in time, become a key member of our team. This vacancy is being managed by City College Plymouth.
We are a 13th Century, grade two listed, Dartmoor thatched pub built on the site of a traditional Devon longhouse. We are under new management after employing a general manager from a Michelin background and we now have the aim of bringing our ‘dine, stay and relax’ ethos to the highest level we can. We offer refined pub classics with a comprehensive wine and bar list to match. Our food service style is relaxed but we do have table service and although this is not intended to be formal or overbearing we do expect a level of refinement within the role. We have six onsite letting rooms and operate these seven days a week with our food running Wednesday to Sunday. We have a fixed management structure to run the business and very supportive and hands-on owners.
We are looking for an apprentice who wants to make a career in hospitality. We have a lot to offer and are building a structure which will allow support and growth within our business for a successful candidate. We would ideally want a candidate to have basic levels of hospitality knowledge based in a fresh food environment with a strong emphasis on attitude and willingness to learn and improve. We would hope that the successful candidate would, in time, become a key member of our team.
We expect all of our employees to be well mannered, well presented and have a positive, can-do attitude. We will expect the successful candidate to work a mixture of shifts, these will include evenings and weekends. We will always strive to pay above the minimum expectation in return for maximum effort. Full on the job training will be provided by our friendly and experienced team. This role will report directly to the restaurant manager or shift leader.
Duties for this role will include but not be limited to:
- Working alongside the restaurant and general manager to deliver a consistent food service offering
- Taking customers food and drink orders
- Dealing with customers
- Clearing tables
- Helping other members of the team where needed
All training to be provided by City College Plymouth in collaboration with the company themselves throughout the duration of the apprenticeship. Your level 2 Hospitality team member apprenticeship may consist of the following components;
- NVQ Diploma
- Technical Cert
- Functional Skills maths and English
- Employee Rights and Responsibilities
- Personal Learning and Thinking Skills
All components will be agreed upon before the start of the apprenticeship.
Qualities and skills:
Basic knowledge and experience of hospitality and food service in a fresh food establishment preferred.
- Well presented
- Professional attitude to work
No formal qualifications are required at this stage. English and maths assessments will be completed upon application with the College if you do not have GCSE C/4 (or equivalent) or above in English and maths.
Upon successful employment a full management and career progression route will be explained to the individual with a view to long term employment and development.
