Duties:

As the world’s leading manufacturer of optical and digital precision technology, Olympus develops and markets innovative medical technology, digital cameras and solutions for science and industry.

Working primarily within the Toolroom to manufacture new injection mould tools (and/or components) by machining methods including manual equipment, CNC and/or EDM via interpretation of 3D CAD information. Providing support to the production team by servicing and repairing existing tooling, producing new jogs, fixtures and CNC programs.

This position will involve undertaking all aspects of manual milling / turning / grinding and also CNC machining using CAM software.

Working with project engineers, you will be expected to take responsibility for ensuring accurate tooling is produced / modified to design and QCD requirements. The post is also required to provide input into the engineering team for review of tooling designs and manufacturability.

Duties for this vacancy will include but are not limited to:

  • Attend centres of learning as per course timetable/requirements

Training:

All training to be provided by City College Plymouth in collaboration with the company themselves throughout the duration of the apprenticeship. Your apprenticeship may consist of the following components;

  • NVQ Diploma Level 3 Engineering Technician
  • Technical Cert
  • Functional Skills maths and English
  • Employee Rights and Responsibilities
  • Personal Learning and Thinking Skills

All components will be agreed upon before the start of the apprenticeship.
