Have you just received your GCSE results? If you are an applicant, joining us in September and have a question relating to your GCSE results, hopefully this Q&A page will help.

Do I need to tell the College my results?

No, you do not need to contact us with your results – you are guaranteed a place whatever grades you received. When you attend your enrolment session, we will ensure you are on the correct level of course for you.

My results are better than I expected, can I change to a higher-level course?

Absolutely! When you attend your enrolment session, we will ensure you are on the correct level of course for you.

I have already accepted a place, but I want to change my course, is this possible?

Yes, most certainly. We know how things can change and we offer a wide variety of courses. If you know what you would like to study, please e-mail admissions@cityplym.ac.uk with your name, date of birth and the code of the course you now wish to study (which can be found on our website) and they will do the rest.

My grades were lower than I was expecting, what are my options?

We know this can be really hard, but rest assured, you still have plenty of options. If you are still interested in your chosen subject area, don’t panic! We have various levels we can start you on, all of which will lead you towards your career goal! Can I retake my GCSEs at City College?

The College is approved for GCSE resits in English, maths and biology, however, we cannot help you with other subjects. Please contact your school for more information about this; however, please note, you are guaranteed a place at City College whatever your results. If you just missed out on your grade 4 in English and/or maths, there will be the opportunity to sit an AQA exam in November following an initial assessment in September. If we feel you are ready for this exam, we will support you with practice tests and coaching sessions via the College’s excellent English and maths hub.  

If you are not ready to sit the exam in November, English and/or maths will be built into your study programme. The English and maths team at City College is fantastic and will support you as you work towards this goal.
