Zombie apocalypse comes to City College Plymouth

Zombies were spotted roaming the campus on Wednesday 29 January thanks to the efforts of some very talented hair and make-up students. The level 3 students were joined by visitors from Exeter, Bodmin and Truro for a special masterclass in prosthetics. The students were given the chance to create some striking visual effects that wouldn’t be out of place in a big budget horror movie.

The event was held to showcase some of the higher education opportunities coming to the College this September, when it launches its Level 5 Make-up Artistry and Hair Foundation Degree, and the Level 6 BA(hons) top-up course.

These brand-new courses are among only a handful of similar courses offered in the country and will help shape students into creative and reflective practitioners, who are ready for a career in what is a very competitive industry.

Lecturer Jennifer Hotchin said: “It has been lovely welcoming our visitors today. We hope all of the students involved have enjoyed the experience. We are all very excited about these new courses, which will enable people to gain these higher-level qualifications that will hopefully help to progress in this industry.”
