Top Results for City College Plymouth’s T Level Students

Students and staff at City College Plymouth are celebrating another remarkable year of level 3 qualification results at the city’s learning destination of choice.

Over 840 students, most aged between 16 and 18, studied a wide range of subjects including engineering, childcare, performing arts and sport. Those taking T Levels in digital, education, and fabrication and welding achieved a remarkable 100% pass rate.

T Levels are equivalent to three A Levels and combine academic study with workplace experience. They provide young people with both practical and knowledge-based learning, alongside on-the-job experience through a 45-day industry placement. Developed in consultation with leading businesses and employers, T Levels are designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge needed to meet the demands of industry now and in the future.

Last year, the College invested over £2.5million in developing its T Level facilities. This investment demonstrates the College’s commitment to creating state-of-the-art learning environments equipped with the latest technology and developed in collaboration with industry partners. The construction work transformed the College’s learning spaces to meet the evolving needs of employers driving growth in Plymouth and across the South West.

Chief Executive of City College, Jackie Grubb, said, “Our students have once again shown exceptional commitment and perseverance, and we could not be prouder of their achievements. I would like to thank our dedicated staff, whose consistent support has been instrumental in helping our students achieve these impressive results.

“T Levels at City College are about more than academic success. They connect our students with the local business community and prepare them to become the next generation of talent for Plymouth. Through these courses, students gain practical skills and invaluable real-world experience that directly contribute to the local economy.

“As our students collect their results today, they are not just progressing into higher education or employment; they are stepping into roles where they will drive innovation and growth within our local businesses. We wish them all the best as they embark on this exciting journey.”

For young people in the city receiving their GCSE results next week and interested in studying T Levels this September, the College will be hosting a drop-in and advice session on Friday 22 August, between 10.00am and 1.00pm. School leavers and their parents are welcome to attend and learn more about the post-16 options available.
