KEEP THE WORLD MOVING

It is human nature to want to travel, and society’s reliance on transport means there will always be demand for skilled engineers in both the automotive and marine sectors. And as we start to look at how we can take better care of our planet whilst still enjoying these freedoms, the technology and the jobs linked to these industries are developing faster than ever.

Why auto and marine engineering

There are many opportunities within auto engineering – an industry that is undergoing a huge transition as the demand for green technology rises.

Studying auto engineering could lead to a traditional vehicle maintenance role or you could specialise in areas such as motorsport, car design or manufacturing for example. Those who become mechanics or auto technicians will work mostly within a garage setting and this can be for a large car manufacturer or an independent garage. There are plenty of options, including becoming self-employed.

If you’re more interested in the water, City College is one of few in the country to offer a range of courses in marine engineering. Being the main skills provider in Britain’s Ocean City, we take this role very seriously and ensure our students are trained to keep our local employers at the very top of this industry.
