Our T Level students were lucky enough to enjoy a unique site visit to Plymouth’s iconic Civic Centre building to see the work underway to transform it into apartments, a mixed-use hub, and a brand new blue-green campus for City College Plymouth.
Students were able to see firsthand the potential of the building and view the areas that will eventually form the new Blue-Green Skills Hub for the College. They explored the building’s structural frame, studied window patterns, and discussed concrete degradation with experts from Southwest Concrete Repairs. They also got to enjoy the incredible view from the top!
This fully immersive experience allowed students to connect classroom theory with the complex reality of large scale urban renovation – and to really visualise what the future of the building could look like.
