Chaz Talbot

Staff Governor & Student Experience Manager at City College Plymouth

Chaz joined the College in 2105 as Academy Manager for Hospitality Catering, after his retirement from the Royal Navy (RN) as a WO1, having received the Meritorious Service Medal (Queen’s Honours) on completion of 31 years’ service. Having travelled the world extensively and experienced worldwide cultures and utilising the educational opportunities available in the RN (BA (HON) and MA) he rediscovered a passion for education, concluding that a progression into an educational setting may prove to be a suitable transition from service life. Within a short space of time at City College he picked up additional responsibilities as Academy Manager for Health & Social Care and ESOL. He then decided that he was more suited to the pastoral side of student support, making the switch to Student Experience Manager in 2019. From this point onwards he has worked tirelessly to enhance the student experience by providing a plethora of improved student support services such as: student voice, enrichment, engagement, pastoral and wellbeing. This has been achieved by developing the infrastructure, facilities and resources through the College, ensuring that students are provided with an unparalleled level of support through their education journey.

In his spare time Chaz loves spending time with his family, sports and culture, particularly the theatre. He believes he was born to be on stage, but this is an ambition that has not yet been achieved … Maybe one day?
