Sam Samuel

General Governor & Police Officer for Devon & Cornwall Constabulary

Sam has been a governor since November 2020 and is very proud to have been invited to contribute to City College Plymouth and the communities where we all live.

Sam’s background is one of mainly public service where he spent 10 years in the Royal Navy straight from secondary school, 15.5 years working for BT and qualified as a triple skilled engineer.  Since retiring from Devon and Cornwall Police, Sam has embraced a new challenge by stepping well outside their comfort zone to retrain as a Confined Space Rescue and Rope Access Team Member.  In this role, Sam is currently supporting contractors at Devonport Dockyard.  Alongside this, Sam remains committed to the policing family through their ongoing work with the Devon and Cornwall Police Compassionate Fund.

Sam is also the Chair for Devonport Services RFC Youth section, which has over 360 boys and girls aged from 6-18 years old.
