Support for Adults 19+

At City College Plymouth, we’re here to support adult learners aged 19+ with various financial assistance and resources to help you thrive in your studies. You may be eligible for free meals on study days, travel support, and a Chromebook laptop to use throughout your course. We also offer internet access and help with essential course-related costs.

All students can enjoy our free Breakfast Club every study day, with options for everyone, including gluten-free and vegan. 

For those balancing studies with family life, we can provide childcare support, including for online courses, depending on your household income. This ensures you can focus on your education while we help take care of the rest.

Support Available – 19+

Household income under £30,000
  • free College meal on study days on campus
  • travel support*
  • chromebook laptop**
  • internet dongle – 120GB data for 12 months usage
  • support with compulsory course-related equipment/fees cost.***

*Available to students living more than three miles from campus
**Chromebook is exclusively for you, for the duration of the course and must be returned once course is completed
***Proof of purchase needed for payments to be released.

Breakfast Club

  • every student can access a free breakfast on College days
  • available from the Refectory between 7.30am – 11.00am
  • choose from hot breakfast baps/wraps and a healthy breakfast bar
  • hot/cold drinks available
  • gluten free/vegan options available upon request

Childcare Support (19+)

Household income between £30,000 – £35,000
  • childcare support on study days*
  • childcare is available to those studying online courses as per timetable
  • must not be in receipt of childcare element of Universal Credit or Tax/Child Tax Credit
  • paid directly to your childcare provider.**

*Criteria applies
**You must notify us if childcare is no longer required

Note that attendance is checked regularly – if it is below 80%, your payments will be stopped and you will be responsible for your childcare costs.

Course Equipment Cost

Proof of purchase for any equipment and confirmation of professional fees paid must be received by the student funding department to release your payments. Please ensure your student ID number is in the subject line to ensure your receipt is registered and processed correctly. 

Please e-mail your receipts to studentlearningfund@cityplym.ac.uk.

Note that Access course students do not need to submit receipts for books purchased.

  • apply online at cityplym.paymystudent.com/portal please check that you are applying for 2024/25 Student Learning Fund
  • apply early to make sure your Student Learning Fund is available for the start of your course.
