City College Plymouth offers financial support and bursaries to help ensure participation for students who face the greatest challenges. Payments will be staggered across the student lifecycle and linked directly to attendance targets. This scheme is available to both full-time and part-time students across all stages of study.

Higher Education Hardship Fund
Students experiencing financial hardship may be eligible for support of up to £1,000 from the Higher Education Hardship Fund during stages one and two of their studies. The fund is open to full-time and part-time students studying an undergraduate qualification on campus. UK residents studying an online undergraduate qualification may also be eligible to apply. Students must provide evidence of financial hardship as part of their application.
Low household income bursary: Students from households with an annual income of less than £25,000 may apply for a bursary of up to £1,000 for each year of their course. Part-time students are also eligible to apply, with the award calculated on a pro rata basis.
Carers’ bursary: Higher education students with full-time caring responsibilities may apply for a £1,000 bursary for each year of their course. The scheme is available to both full-time and part-time students, with the award calculated pro rata for part-time students.
Care leavers bursary: Higher education students who have been in local authority care for 13 weeks or more may apply for a £1,000 bursary for each year of their course. The scheme is available to both full-time and part-time students, with the award calculated pro rata for part-time students.
Applicants who demonstrate or promote excellence in their subject may be eligible for financial support through one of the College’s scholarships. The scholarships are open to students applying to study on any full-time foundation degree or honours degree programme. Successful applicants will receive a £1,000 cash payment to support their studies. In return, students will be expected to act as a Student Ambassador for their subject, helping at College recruitment activities such as Course Advice events and Open Days or promoting access and support for under-represented groups where opportunities arise.
