Itโs not easy to get a distinction in any subject – but our student Isabelle found out she had done just that when she picked up her T Level result in August. Her achievement was made all the more remarkable by the fact that Isabelle was heavily pregnant throughout most of her second year of her Education and Early Years qualification!
Reflecting on her experience, 18-year-old Isabelle said: โI found out I was pregnant just before I finished the work placement in the first year of my course. In year two the window for observations (a key part of the T Level qualification process) opened on February 2. By the time I had my last one on the tenth of February I was 35 weeks pregnant!โ
Isabelleโs daughter Elodie was born soon after in March (and incidentally, charmed everyone who met her at our results day event).
The distinction was a fantastic result for Isabelle, who initially wasnโt sure what she wanted to do after leaving school. โI didn’t really enjoy my school life,โ she explained. โI applied for the T Level course a week before it started – I was convinced I was going to do A Levels, but after my GCSE results, I came to the College for an open day and I met Kath, my lecturer. And it just changed my mind. So I applied, and then I started, and I think it’s the best decision I’ve probably ever made.โ
Asked for any final thoughts on the way her T Level course was delivered, Isabelle added: โIt really works. It worked so well for me, especially with getting pregnant – which wasn’t planned – but I still managed to do it. All my lecturers, they’re so amazing. I’m just glad I was able to finish the second year!โ
Weโre incredibly pleased for Isabelle, and weโre sure she has a tremendous career in front of her, and that she and her young family have a very bright future to look forward to!
