Self Employed Deputy Head of Lighting
Lights, camera, action!
The Live Events Production course at City College Plymouth was a great way to get started in event and theatre production for Glen.
Through plenty of hands-on practical learning and great lectures from outside speakers, this course allowed Glen to find the exact direction he wanted to take with his career. Through many different work experience placements, the live events course allowed Glen to gain contacts that ultimately led him to freelance work in live events. Then, he went on to gain a technical Apprenticeship at the prestigious Theatre Royal Plymouth!
Shortly after his Apprenticeship, Glen joined his first UK tour with Birmingham Royal Ballet. Since then, he has gone on to work in over ten different countries across the world with most recent production credits including CATS The Musical, Garsington Opera Festival and Love Never Dies.
Talking about the impact the course has had on his career, Glen said: “The course gave me plenty of opportunities to practise hands-on practical learning and we saw great lectures from outside speakers. It allowed me to find the exact direction I wanted to take with my career.”
Citing his success to his beginnings at City College, Glen encourages anyone with an interest in events and theatre production to try this course – you won’t be disappointed!
