Meet Neve

Neve is a Supported Internship student at City College Plymouth who has embraced every opportunity to build her confidence and workplace skills. She has completed a range of placements, including at Moments Café, Lush, and the Barbican Theatre, where she enjoyed working behind the scenes creating signage. The theatre was her favourite placement, giving her the chance to be creative while learning how a busy organisation operates.

Each placement has helped Neve develop key employability skills, including communication, teamwork and time management. She has worked hard to become more organised and independent, making sure she is punctual and ready for each shift. These experiences have helped her feel more prepared for future employment.

Most recently, Neve completed a 12-week placement at Tesco on Transit Way, working both on the shop floor and in the café. “At first I was really quiet, but now I feel much more confident speaking to customers and colleagues,” she says. “I’m proud of how far I’ve come.”

Alongside her placements, Neve has achieved her Bronze and Silver Duke of Edinburgh Awards and enjoys spending time with friends in the Pathways for Progression common room. Reflecting on her experience, she hopes her story will encourage others: “I want to inspire people with my journey. If I can do it, other people can too.”
