Course information

The BA (Hons) top-up degree takes a hands-on approach to learning and this principle is embedded into our curriculum design and chosen methods of delivery and assessment.

You will be given the opportunity to be creative across every unit and you will graduate with a comprehensive portfolio, alongside an excellent theoretical and practical knowledge of your chosen subject.

You will form part of the management team of One20 Media (our student-led production company), enabling you to take the lead on live client briefs and work experience projects. You will learn how to meet the needs of your chosen sector and mirror the industry’s workflow and creative environments.

The course delivery will also be supplemented by guest lecturers – all of whom have a wealth of industry knowledge.

You will study the following subject areas:

Working in One20 Media
Under the umbrella of our student-led production company, you will develop a portfolio from working on live client briefs. You will learn wider industry contexts and have skills ready for the industry within your chosen specialism.

Exploration
This module will enable you to focus on a specific area of interest and review, sharpen and develop your craft skills by analysing artists/designers/practitioners’ work to create a short product inspired by this investigation.

Extended essay/research report
This module aims to offer an opportunity for in-depth research and demonstration of an advanced understanding of a specific creative media practitioner or artistic movement.

Knowledge transfer
Working with the Foundation Degree students, you will lead a short media project to support their development of practical knowledge, strengthening your own practical knowledge, project management and leadership skills.

Define, develop, deliver – advanced professional practice
This module is the final major project for all students. It aims to build on the detailed studies undertaken within your extended research essay and practical investigations. Throughout the module, you will demonstrate a highly professional approach to your workload and you will be supported by the team to ensure this is the case.

We welcome applications from those who have all of the following:

  • a Foundation Degree or equivalent level 5 qualification awarding 240 HE credits
  • five GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above, to include English and maths

or alternatively:
