About the course

Do you want to train for a job as a beauty therapist, beauty massage therapist or beauty business owner? This full-time beauty therapy course at City College Plymouth will provide training in facials, manicures, pedicures, waxing, make-up, threading and tanning. This City & Guilds technical certificate in Beauty Therapy will combine lots of practical, hands-on beauty training with learning about health and safety and how to promote products and services. When you successfully complete the course, you can progress to the advanced level 3 beauty therapy course, which is equivalent to three A Levels.

What you'll learn

This course includes the following subjects:

  • manicure
  • pedicure
  • facials
  • waxing
  • eye treatments
  • make-up
  • health & safety
  • threading
  • tanning treatments.

All units will be assessed practically and theoretically.Your individualised study programme will be made up of the following four areas:

  • the qualification you are studying
  • English and maths
  • work experience
  • other activities to develop your personal skills e.g. preparing you for employment, training or higher/further education.
Entry requirements

You will need a good standard of English and maths at GCSE level and/or a level one qualification in hairdressing.

What's next?

On successful completion of this course, you may wish to progress to the Level 3 Diploma in Beauty Therapy Techniques at the College.

Important information

Fees quoted apply to courses starting in the academic year 2020/21 (August 2020 – July 2021). There may be a slight increase in fees for courses starting 2021/22.

If you are aged 16-18, due to Government funding, tuition fees may not be applicable for your course. (Please note: this does not apply to Foundation Degrees or Access to Higher Education courses, and other courses not eligible for public funding.)
