What's it all about?

This course will help you build the skills and knowledge you need to care for young children, developing what you already know. 

You’ll explore how children grow, learn and develop, giving you a deeper understanding of early years. Whether you want to gain important life skills, start a career in childcare, or develop your parenting knowledge, this course will support you in reaching your goals.

The course covers the following units: 

  • sharing learning experiences with children 
  • growth and development of young children 
  • human growth and development 
  • respecting and valuing children 
  • children’s play and leisure activities in the community 
  • preparing for your next steps 
  • supporting babies to play 
  • science activities for young children 
  • technology activities for young children 
  • musical activities for young children.  

There are no specific entry requirements for this course.

You will be assessed via coursework.

Upon successful completion, you may progress to the Level 1 Childhood Education course.
