This Foundation Degree will enable you to develop the necessary technical knowledge and skills required for gaining entry into the exciting world of mechanical engineering. The course has been designed to provide you with a wide breadth of knowledge in order to prepare you for the multi-disciplined elements of working in this industry.

We welcome applications from those who have a minimum of four GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above, including maths and science, and one or more of the following:

  • 48 UCAS tariff points
  • a BTEC National Certificate/Diploma or Extended Diploma in a related subject
  • an Advanced Apprenticeship
  • a level 3 qualification in mathematics
  • a level 3 qualification in a related subject
  • T level pass in an appropriate subject area
  • equivalent qualifications or relevant work experience.

Should the entry requirements not be met then individual cases will be considered.

Assessment will be through a mixture of coursework, in-class tests and examinations.

On successful completion you may be able to progress to the final year of the BSc (Hons) Mechanical Design and Manufacture or BEng Mechanical Engineering degrees at the University of Plymouth or gain employment in the industry.
