FAQs

Do I need to attend my application session?

Yes. You must attend your session if you wish to study at the College. If you do not attend, your application will be cancelled and you will lose your potential place on the course.

What if I cannot make my application session?

If you are unable to make your session or are absent on the day, you must call 01752 305290/305835 as soon as possible to rearrange for an alternative session. Failure to contact the team in a timely manner will result in your registered interest being cancelled and you will lose your potential place on the course.

When is my session?

Sessions are held at regular intervals throughout the year. You will have received a postcard inviting you to your session. If you have lost or not received your invite, please call 01752 305290/305835 to confirm the time and date of your session.

How long will the session last?

Individual sessions for English applicants and maths applicants last approximately one to two hours. Joint sessions for English and maths applicants will last for approximately two to three hours.

NOTE: please allow for some additional time, as sessions may run longer than anticipated.

What will happen at my session?

At your session, there will be a presentation on the English and/or maths courses available at the College and the different levels you may be able to join.

You will also be asked to complete a short assessment which will help our team assess the level of course you should study at the College. This assessment does not count towards your course grades and you do not need to prepare for this assessment in advance; however, if you wish to practice your English and/or maths, the following links may be of use:

If you do not have any certificates, please let our team know on your arrival.

What else do I need to bring with me for my session?

You may find it useful to bring a pen/pencil and notebook with you to your session. Please note that food and drink are not allowed during the session, although you may bring a bottle of water with you if required.
