HOW TO APPLY

From selecting your course to submitting your application and understanding the next steps, here’s everything you need to know.

Full-Time Courses

Choose your course here and click ‘Apply now’ to begin your application. For support with your application, please call the Customer Services team on 01752 305300.

We recommend that you apply for your chosen course as early as possible to make sure you secure your spot. Don’t worry if you haven’t 100% made up your mind what it is you want to study; you can always change your mind later.

Yes. If you’re accepted for two or more courses please inform us of your final choice as soon as possible.

Most interviews will take place in person, but for some courses, this may be a phone interview. This interview will give both you and the lecturer the chance to discuss the course together.

For school leavers, please be aware that your offer will initially be conditional. However, it will become unconditional based on your exam results, which will be confirmed on results day. You will be contacted if any changes need to be made to your course.

This isn’t a problem. We have loads of experience supporting people with EHCPs or other learning difficulties. If you have an EHCP (or any learning difficulty for that matter), please let us know as soon as possible by stating it on your application so we can start putting the right support in place.

You may or may not be aware that Apprenticeships are like jobs. Firstly a job needs to exist, and secondly, you might have to go through the interview process – which isn’t always successful right away.

It is always a good idea to apply for a full-time course in your chosen area if you are yet to secure an employer. You get to start developing those crucial skills that employers want whilst the College finds the perfect employer for you.

We have loads of experience when it comes to pairing employers and apprentices, and we can easily transfer you from a course to an Apprenticeship once one has been found.

Upon receipt of your application, a confirmation e-mail will be sent to you by the College. Following this, we will notify if you are required to meet with a member of the teaching team. Should you be successful, you will receive an offer for a place on your chosen course.

Please note that this section is for individuals who currently live outside of the UK.

If you are a current resident within the UK, you can apply through our full-time, part-time or university-level routes.

Download an application form here and once you have completed the form, please send it back to us at admissions@cityplym.ac.uk or post it to the address on the form.

Don’t forget to attach the extra information listed below, including copies of the relevant pages of your passport. We will contact you to confirm if we can offer you a place. If you are made an offer we ask for the full fee before assigning the CAS.

Along with completing the application form, you will need to include the following documentation:

  • copies of exam certificates and school reports which need be translated into English
  • copies of the pages in your passport – including your name, age, photograph and passport number
  • a copy of your visa (if applicable/available)
  • full details of any previous studies in the UK
  • copies of English language qualifications.

Once the International Admissions team has received all of your document, it will be checked and your application will start to be processed. Some courses require an interview and you will be advised at this stage if this is necessary. A CAS can only be issued once the requested fees have been cleared in the City College Plymouth finance account.

If you require a Student Visa to study in the UK we advise you to apply for your place at the College a minimum of three months prior to the course start date. This is to allow enough time for the full College application and visa application processes. If you need a Student Visa to study at the College and do not meet the UKVI concessions, you will need to provide a Secure English Language Test (SELT), which is UKVI approved, such as UKVI IELTS.
