Among last year’s participants were a group of tourism students who travelled to Amsterdam, where they carried out a project at ROC van Amsterdam, MBO Airport College. Tourism student, Chloe, said: “I would definitely recommend this opportunity to everyone. This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that I will always cherish, with my favourite parts being able to explore the Netherlands and learn about their history, as well as attending lessons and getting to know the teachers and students at ROC college and how their educational system works.”

Carpentry, and painting and decorating students also took the opportunity to work abroad. Lewis Mayes, who is training to be a carpenter, travelled to Iceland to work on construction sites around Reykjavik. About the experience, Lewis said: “I would definitely recommend this to other students. It’s usually a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to go to a different country and experience how they work.”

This year, the College is supporting 17 groups of students from across the curriculum to participate in vocational studies, project work and work experience in France, Germany, Finland, Sweden, Lithuania, Poland, Netherlands, Norway, Italy, Spain, Greece, Iceland and Austria.
