Introduction

As Chair of the Board, I am proud to support City College Plymouth, which continues to demonstrate both ambition and purpose at a time of significant change for further education and for our region. The strength of this institution lies not only in its outcomes, but in its ability to anticipate future need, respond with agility and remain steadfast in its commitment to students and communities across Plymouth and beyond.

The Board recognises that education has a vital role to play in shaping economic resilience, social mobility and civic confidence. The decisions we make today will influence the opportunities available to future generations and it is therefore essential that the College continues to act with clarity, accountability and ambition. Our  Strategic Intent provides that focus. It reflects a shared commitment to sustainable growth, high standards and long-term impact.

We are fortunate to have dedicated staff, strong partnerships and a leadership team determined to ensure the College remains at the forefront of skills development and inclusive education. The Board’s role is to support and challenge in equal measure, ensuring that our strategic direction remains aligned with the needs of students, employers and the wider community while maintaining strong governance and financial resilience.

Over the coming years, the pace of change across industry, technology and society will continue to accelerate. In this environment, the College must remain innovative, responsive and courageous in its decision-making. By investing in people, strengthening partnerships and maintaining a relentless focus on quality and inclusion, we will continue to build an institution that delivers lasting value for the city and region.
