MP Dinner

Business and community leaders from across Plymouth and beyond gathered at City College Plymouth’s PL1 Restaurant for an evening of meaningful discussion,  collaboration and strategic alignment. With key voices in the room, including guest speakers, Member of Parliament for Plymouth Moor View, Fred Thomas MP, and Association of Colleges’ Chief Executive, David Hughes CBE – the event provided a vital platform to explore the opportunities to continue shaping our economy.

A highlight of the evening was a series of roundtable discussions, uniting leaders from sectors including engineering, health, education, construction, charity, retail and the visitor economy. Each sector identified three strategic ‘asks’ – priority actions that will be championed by our MPs to influence government policy and ensure Plymouth and the South West’s needs are heard at the highest level.

As a region, we are at a pivotal moment. The world is navigating uncertainty – shifting global relationships, rapid technological change, and the ongoing realities of climate impact. Plymouth and the South West are uniquely positioned to thrive. Our rich industrial heritage, skilled workforce, and spirit of innovation make us a region that shapes its own future.

Fred Thomas MP reaffirmed his commitment to working with fellow MPs, Luke Pollard and Rebecca Smith, to continue to drive real change at the heart of government. Events like these prove the power of collective action, aligning business, education, and policymakers behind a shared vision for the region’s future.

Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed. Our region is taking bold steps forward, and together, we are making a difference to our communities and economy.
