Health and Science Development Benefits Employers and Students

The very latest teaching and learning technologies are being incorporated into this pioneering and flexible space – with huge benefits for employers and students.

Improved facilities in the health and childhood education teaching area will foster a supportive, innovative and comprehensive experience making more efficient use of those areas and workshops.

The modernisation makes for an inviting place for visiting employers to work collaboratively with students and staff to set projects, assess work and discuss job opportunities.

As well as breakout areas to encourage students to work independently, there will be a wide range of specialist healthcare equipment installed which students can take advantage of to simulate real world scenarios. This includes an Anatomage
table – a pioneering 3D anatomy visualisation and virtual dissection tool, offering a learning experience which puts traditional teaching methods into the shade. You can find out more about it here: https://eu.anatomage.com/

Students will be able to meet with employers in small groups or on a one-to-one basis, as well as being able to enjoy a variety of teaching environments and activities. Improved facilities help students prepare for the world of work by applying theoretical knowledge to real world settings by working closely with people with extensive experience. They can then go on to develop better practical skills and more fully understand the relevance of their studies.

Many of the jobs students will go on to do require adaptability and flexibility, and enhanced teaching environments encourage the learning of practical skills in an atmosphere of collaboration and teamwork.

Virtual reality will enhance the student learning experience, enabling them to work on medical problems in controlled and safe surroundings.

Improvements include a room mirroring a hospital ward, and a retractable lecture theatre.

The modernisation of the space over the summer will bring benefits to all further education students learning about care-related subjects such as early years, health and social care, including T Level students.

The College works closely with the NHS and a major healthcare organisation on securing industry placements which match the needs of the city and job opportunities. This teaching area development will play a major role in continuing to develop those relationships and making sure changing needs are met.
