What's it all about?

Are you an electrician needing to complete a 18th edition IEE Wiring Regulations course? This intensive three day 18th Edition qualification at City College Plymouth is awarded by City & Guilds. The training will provide a sound and thorough grounding in all aspects of the regulations focusing on the major changes in BS:7671 Amendment 2.

It is expected that candidates have experience of electrical installation work and a good understanding of electrical science and principles.

Please note, you will require a copy of: BS7671:2018, Amendment 2:2022, IET Wiring Regulations (ISBN 978-1-83953-218-4) and IET On-Site Guide (ISBN 978-1-83953-227-6). We also recommend a copy of Exam Preparation: Requirements for Electrical Installations (2382), 2nd Edition

City College Plymouth will provide all tools and equipment required for your training. We offer a free breakfast for all of our students and short course delegates will be given a free lunch voucher to use in our Food Court.

Course information

The course is scheduled over three consecutive days and will introduce you to the definitive standards of the electrical industry with respect to safe use and operation of electrical systems and equipment as laid down in the latest edition of the IET Wiring Regulations.

This qualification is approved for candidates aged 16 or above.
It is primarily aimed at practising electricians and other professionals such as consultants and surveyors who need to update and enhance their understanding of the IET Wiring Regulations to the latest edition.

Assessment is via an online, two hour, open book multi-choice examination.

On successful completion you may progress to the following courses: 

– Inspection and Testing of Electrical Installations (2391-52) 

– In-service Testing and Inspection of Electrical Equipment (PAT).  

We also offer courses in Solar PVBattery Storage and Electric Vehicle Charging.
