Are you looking to retrain to enter a new industry but feel unsure, anxious or nervous about entering a new environment? 


Have you been out of education for a long time so would like a gentle approach to returning to a learning environment?


This introductory course will provide you with an insight into the hair, barbering or beauty industries to support your progression on to a level 2 qualification in your chosen industry.


Course information

Within this course you will study preparatory units of how to present yourself in a professional manner whilst working in the salon, you will learn about key aspects and behaviours expected of professionals working in the hair, barbering or beauty industries. 

Depending on your chosen area of interest, you will also study one of the following units:

  • how to style men’s hair – barbering route

  • how to shampoo and condition the hair – hairdressing route

  • skin care application – beauty therapy route.

There are no specific entry requirements for this course, however a positive attitude and a willingness to learn are essential for success.

All work will be assessed through written assignments and practical observations

Following successful completion of this course you can progress on to one of the following courses:

  • Level 2 Certificate in Barbering

  • Level 2 Award in Cutting Men’s Hair

  • Level 2 Diploma in Women’s Hairdressing

  • Level 2 Diploma in Beauty Therapy

  • Level 2 Certificate in Nail Technology.
