What's it all about?

Are you one of the new innovators? A possible computer engineer of the future? Then this course is for you! This is your starting point for getting into this highly paid industry.

You’ll study a range of areas such as programming, cybersecurity and web design. It’s an exciting course which will help you prepare for the next steps on this cutting-edge career path.

This course is designed to provide you with the stepping stone onto a full T Level in a range of fields including Digital Design, Production and Development or Digital Support Services.

You will complete a BTEC Level 2 in ICT alongside your GCSE English and Maths. This will be underpinned by coverage of National Technical Outcomes that will provide you with the skills and knowledge to progress onto a full T Level. Not only that, you’ll have access to a Personal Tutor to guide your studies and will be supported to complete an Industrial Placement giving you real hands-on experience of working in Computing and ICT.

Course information

The course content includes units such as:

  • web design
  • cybersecurity
  • essentials of IT
  • emerging technologies
  • programming solutions
  • participating in a project
  • games creation
  • mobile apps. 

Anyone who does not meet the entry requirements for full T Levels will be able to apply (you’ll need GCSE Grade 5 as a minimum in English and Maths). We will also accept applications from those who have Grade 3 in English, Maths and/or Science who are looking to build your grade profile for future employment or study. 

The course is assessed via External Assessment/Exams and Internally Assessed assignments. You will also produce a portfolio of evidence linked to the National Technical Outcomes. 

Upon successful completion of the programme you will be able to progress onto a full T Level in Digital Design, Production and Development or Digital Support Services – all on offer here at City College Plymouth.
