What's it all about?

Cause a splash; open the door to a rewarding career opportunity as a plumber or plumbing and heating engineer! This City and Guilds plumbing and heating course at City College Plymouth will equip you with the basic skills and knowledge you need to gain entry into the plumbing industry. You will learn the basics of installation, servicing and maintenance of a variety of plumbing, heating and ventilation systems, including bathroom and central heating systems. This course leads to a nationally recognised diploma.

Course information

Your individualised study programme will be made up of the following four areas:

  • the qualification you are studying
  • English and maths
  • work experience
  • other activities to develop your personal skills e.g. preparing you for employment, training or higher/further education.
  • This course is a progression from level 1 Plumbing Studies, or is suitable for those with plumbing experience, subject to a skills test.
  • You must have, or be working towards, grade 4 or above in English and maths.
  • This course is for those 19+

On successful completion you may consider applying for an Apprenticeship in the sector.

Completion of this qualification may also enhance your employability within the building services industry and help you to gain employment as, for example, a trainee plumber or a trainee in the installation, service and maintenance of a variety of plumbing and/or heating and ventilation systems.
