About the course

An introduction to financial accounting which will provide both a theoretical and practical foundation for further study in accounting.

What you'll learn

The course covers:

  • financial accounting
  • considering the regulatory framework/conventions
  • accounting ethics
  • preparation of the balance sheet
  • profit and loss account
  • cash flow statement

This course also coveres preparation of limited companies and partnership accounts. You will also learn how to evaluate business performance.

Entry requirements

You will need to hold a level 3 qualification or have relevant work experience.


You will be assessed by coursework and an end of module test.

What's next?

On successful completion of this module you may progress to a range of other CPD modules at the College. Three modules equate to a Certificate of Professional Development Award.
