What's it all about?

This qualification is designed for individuals wishing to develop strategic management and leadership practice who will have the knowledge, skills and behaviours to drive business activities in a senior, regional, specialist, director or CEO management and leadership role. 

The qualification contains a breadth of units, which are reflective of the tasks and activities required by managers in roles such as senior managers, regional management and specialist managers who are accountable to a senior manager or business owner. They also should have knowledge, skills and behaviours to drive business activities in the following roles: 

  • operations manager 
  • regional manager 
  • divisional manager 
  • specialist manager 
  • director/CEO.

Course information

This qualification is broken down into units and relevant topics aligned to the level and qualification. Typical units for this course are: 

  • strategic leadership 
  • collaboration and partnerships 
  • developing organisational strategy 
  • strategic risk management 
  • entrepreneurial practice 
  • personal and professional development for strategic leaders 
  • strategic approaches to equality, diversity and inclusion 
  • strategic approaches to mental health and wellbeing. 
  • You should have a qualification in maths and English a minimum of level 2 (GCSE/Functional Skills). 
  • If English is not your first language you will need an IELTS score of 6.5. 
  • A CMI Level 5 Diploma or any other Level 5 qualification. 

The qualification is assessed via coursework.

Upon successful completion, you can progress to a range of business and management courses at the College.
