What's it all about?

This programme supports students who are not progressing into employment to develop adult life skills, including accessing services, budgeting, travel, and forming safe relationships.

Emphasis is placed on communication, wellbeing, and responsible citizenship. Students explore their rights and responsibilities, engage in community visits, and practise navigating semi-independent environments.

The course promotes positive self-identity and practical problem-solving, ensuring a smooth and safe transition into adult services, supported living, or community-based opportunities.

Course information

The course includes:

  • independent living skills
  • social communication
  • English and maths
  • personal development
  • The Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme.

There are no specific entry requirements for the course, but an interview will be conducted to assess the student’s suitability

The course is assessed via coursework and completion of a workbook.

Upon successful completion, students may progress to adult social care.
