Outstanding International Students!
The College holds a glittering annual Awards Ceremony at which outstanding achievements of some of the College’s students are celebrated. Every year one of the College’s international students is nominated to receive the award of the Most Outstanding International Student, recognising academic or cultural success. Here are some of our previous winners:
2015: Kate Blay Mensah from Ghana
"Kate left her family in Takoradi, Ghana, a city with which Plymouth has strong links, to study with us at the College. Kate has worked with our International Office on the Buddy scheme for international students and has been the International Student Rep on the Students’ Union. She is also providing help and support to the College’s Head of International Development for a promotional visit to Takoradi next month, acting as an advocate for Foundation Degrees following her experiences. A very busy and dedicated student, I’m sure you’ll agree."
2014: Lye Man Yau from Malaysia
"Lye Man was a dedicated worker who consistently received outstanding results on his 6 months IFC. Still, he always sought to develop his skills. Lye Man also supported his peers, and gained extremely high IELTS scores achieved through excellent language skills, but also through listening and responding to feedback. He was an exemplary student!"
2013: Eric Kong Shuen Yih from Malaysia
"Eric worked hard during his time at City College Plymouth. He studied on the 6 month IFC and will have no problem progressing onto a highly rated UK unversity in the Autumn. Eric made the most of his time at CCP, engaging in various college activities, making lots of new friends, and getting top grades!"
2012: Xiang Yikai (Kevin) from China
"Throughout his year at the college Kevin demonstrated great dedication to his work, commitment to his studies, and an eagerness to learn. He was at all times diplomatic and respectful and set a good example for his peers. His teachers commented that it was a privilege to teach him.''
2011: Phung Tu Anh (Victoria) from Vietnam
"Victoria joined the College in September last year to study our one year pre-University foundation course for international students. She came to us with a very high graduating score from a top school in Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam and from the start she was a conscientious, committed and high performing student in the group. She maintained this high level of achievement throughout the year, achieving an overall Distinction. She has made the most of her time so far at the College, making new international friends, and spent her Summer learning Mandarin in Vietnam. Victoria has now progressed to stage 1 of the two year Foundation Degree in Accounting and Finance."
2010: Ramesh Thakuri from Nepal
“Ramesh completed the one year International Foundation Course here at the College in 2008, earning an overall Distinction. He then progressed to study for a Foundation Degree in Software Development, which he has completed with an overall mark of 60%.
