About the course

This AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting is suitable for you if you wish to pursue a career in accountancy or finance. The purpose of the programme is to offer a grounding in the core accounting knowledge and skills needed to progress either into employment or to further study. The qualification is suitable for school-leavers, for adults returning to work or for anyone wishing to pursue a career change or progression. The course is open to those who are working, or not currently in employment.

What you'll learn

The AAT Foundation certificate in Accounting covers a rage of foundation and finance skills in five units:

  • bookkeeping transactions
  • bookkeeping controls
  • elements of costing
  • using accounting software
  • work effectively in finance.
Entry requirements

There are no entry requirements for this qualification, however, students should have a good command of English and maths, and a desire to develop and enhance business numeracy skills. Students must join the AAT Annual membership which costs £94.

Assessments/Exams

This course is marked by computer based assignments that are set and marked by AAT.

What's next?

The skills developed by studying this qualification will give you a solid base from which to seek employment with confidence, and/or to progress to the next level of learning. You may wish to progress onto the AAT Advanced Diploma in Accouting or other business and accounting qualifications.

Fees quoted apply to courses starting in the academic year 2018/19 (August 2018 – July 2019). There may be a slight increase in fees for courses starting 2019/20.
